Make sure the VIN is clearly visible, use good lighting, avoid glare, and hold the phone steady. You can also enter the 17-character VIN manually.

Some vehicle information is missing

HonestVIN relies on publicly available vehicle and safety data. Some vehicles may have incomplete records, unavailable ratings, delayed information, or no reported complaints.

Missing information does not prove that a vehicle has no problems. Always verify important details and obtain a professional inspection before buying a used vehicle.

The report will not load

Confirm that your phone has an internet connection and try the search again. A public data service may occasionally be delayed or temporarily unavailable.

The app shows the wrong vehicle

Double-check every VIN character. The letters I, O, and Q are not normally used in standard 17-character VINs because they can be confused with numbers.

Please report incorrect results so they can be investigated.

How do I remove saved app information?

HonestVIN stores saved VINs, cached reports, and related app information locally on your device.

You can remove all locally stored HonestVIN information through your phone's Android app-storage settings or by uninstalling the app. Menu wording may differ depending on the phone manufacturer.

Can HonestVIN guarantee a vehicle is reliable?

No. HonestVIN is a research and risk-screening tool, not a guarantee, professional inspection, official title report, or complete vehicle-history report.
